Funerals

Funerals

If you have lost or are facing the loss of someone you love, you may at this moment feel confused, stunned and overwhelmed by your loss, and you may even feel angry. Bereavement brings with it a time of painful but important activity. You will be grieving and grief, like any other form of healing can take time, it can be a painful and lonely process.      The Church is here to help.

A member of the clergy is here to support you if you choose to have the service of your loved one at a crematorium chapel or in one of our benefice churches.

Funeral Service in Church

This service is a time to mark the death of a loved one without undue haste.  The funeral service in church includes a Bible reading, an address, prayers of remembrance and thanksgiving, together with the commendation of your loved one into the care of God.  In addition, it allows time to include hymns of your choice, poems, readings, a tribute or eulogy.

This service would normally be followed by a short service of committal in a churchyard or at one of the  Crematorium chapels.

We can support you with this option, with which there is usually less flexibility over the length of the service .

Pastoral Care

God’s love for us is far more generous than anything we can imagine.  We do our very best to try to reflect God’s love in meeting pastoral needs, not only of members of the congregation, but also those members of the community who look to us in times of need.

Please contact Rev Caroline, if you feel that you need support, spiritual help, advice or guidance.
